House of the DragonSeason 2 is in full swing, and let’s just say this season has been filled with so many huge moments.
We started the season with Rhaenyra heartbreakinglysearchingfor Luke’s body, Rhaenys and Meleystragically dyingat Rook’s Rest, Aegon being burnt to a crisp, Aemond ruling in his stead, Daemon being haunted at Harrenhal, and Criston Cole consistentlybeing the worst.
With only three episodes left, last night’s episode — titled “Smallfolk” — was surely going to be a lot as we head into the final two episodes. And, while so much did happen, like SeasmokeclaimingAddam as his rider (!!!!!!), there was another moment toward the very end that had everyone freaking out.
In the final minutes of the episode, Mysaria, who has now become a close confidant to Rhaenyra, visits the Queen. The moment comes after the duo sent a bunch of food to King’s Landing, which got the common-folk more on her side and caused them to lash out at the royals, aka Team Green.
Rhaenyra confides in Mysaria that she doesn’t think she can win the war and that she always wanted to be like Daemon, and she thinks she has lost him when she needs him (and his dragon) to win.
Mysaria then tells Rhaenyra why she has chosen to put her faith in Rhaenyra, who is “steadfast.”
The duo embrace, and it ultimately leads to them kissing! When I say I was delightfully stunned, I MEAN IT.
In aninterview with the Wrap, Sonoya Mizuno revealed that the kiss was unscripted and was somethingEmma D’Arcyinitially suggested.
“It wasn’t scripted as a kiss. I think it was scripted as…there’s just breath between them or something, and then whatever happens is interrupted,” Sonoya explained.
She added that she had “many conversations” alongside Emma and showrunner Ryan Condal where eventually Emma suggested a kiss felt “organic” while Rhaenyra was comforting Mysaria.
