Not surprisingly , a lot of these are about phone etiquette .
Everyone has those pet peeves that, while perfectly normal or socially acceptable to others, just get under their skin. Whether it’s people who overshare on social media, people who bump into others in the street because they’re so distracted texting, or passengers who get up as soon as the plane lands and then crowd the entire aisle, these little things can be surprisingly irritating.
Recently, Reddit userspacewalkerstarfieldwanted to know about those pet peeves when theyasked: “What’s a social habit everyone seems to accept but you find really annoying?”
1.“Not everything has to be filmed.”
2.“People congregating in doorways — particularly when there is plenty of non-doorway space available.”
3.“Coming in for work when you’re sick. Stay the f*** home 💕.”
4.“Kids blasting whatever TV show on their iPads in the middle of a restaurant while I’m trying to eat. The kids can watch whatever, but somebody teach them to use headphones.”
5.“People who stop in the middle of a busy walkway to check their phones. It’s like they think they’ve hit pause on the world.”
6.“At the airport, people who stand blocking the baggage carousel as if they are the only ones that need to get their bags. Selfish f*cks. Also, those families of 4–6-plus who walk down the concourse slowly, shoulder-to-shoulder, blocking people trying to get to their gates. I’ve learned that there are two types of people in the world: those who take only as much as they need and those who take as much as they can.”
7.“Tipping everywhere! I don’t mind tipping the server who serves me, but I hate the guilt trap of tipping the person who pours my black coffee into a cup.”
8.“Being late every time.”
9.“Filming at a concert. Nothing looks dumber than when you’re standing still, cell phone in the air, trying to hold it steady while filming the band/singer. I’m sorry, but when you watch that later you know it’s going to be garbage. Concerts are special moments that are not to be repeated. Just stay in the GD moment and put your phone down. It’s going to be okay.”
10.“People who talk loudly on speakerphone in public places.”
11.“People standing like sardines in line. It doesn’t get us there any faster! I miss the Covid six-foot personal bubble :(.”
12.“Being expected to be constantly available via social media, chat, text, and call at any and all hours. If you try to ‘opt-out,’ it’s seen as weird or antisocial.”
13.“FaceTiming in public.”
14.“Bringing your fucking dog everywhere, including in stores!!! And I freaking lovedogs, but come on. Don’t just assume they can come to social gatherings.”
15.“Bringing extra people (whom I don’t know) to a meal without asking.”
16.“Putting down every thing on the internet. A movie just came out? Sucks. New music just dropped? Sucks. Someone made some food? Sucks. Celebrity had a bad day and yelled at someone? Sucks, and they should lose their career. There is nothing positive on the internet now. Everything ‘sucks!’ And if you do happen to enjoy something, some shithead will certainly try to break you down over it.”
17.“Playing shitty music loudly in public on their phone speakers. Headphones. Use them.”
18.And lastly, “Being on your phone while having an in-person conversation with someone. Like hello, I’m right here, not on your screen!”
