" It ’s a big boat . "

Paris Hiltonresponded following criticism of her decision not to have son Phoenix wear a life jacket on a catamaran.

The heiress and businesswoman shared a video onto herTikTokcaptioned, “Watching Phoenix explore the world has been so special to me! 🥹✨ I am so grateful to be a#SlivingMom💖✨.”

In the US, it isfederal lawfor all children under the age of 13 to wear a life jacket on a moving boat — the only exceptions being if the child is below deck or in an enclosed cabin. However, dependingon the state, the size of Paris’s boat may have exceeded local requirements for life jackets.

The boat appears to be aSunreef 80 Echo, which is typically around 80 feet in length. It’s not the first time she has shared a video of her children on the boat without life jackets — she posted acompilationearlier this month where Phoenix can be seen sitting at the deck’s edge.

It’s not the first time Paris’s social media posts about her children have raised safety concerns. Earlier this year, she shared avideoof Phoenix in her arms in a pool with his combination life jacket and swim vest on backwards. She replied, “Oops! Thank you! I never let him out of my arms. thought it was backwards too, I said that to the person who I bought it from & they said it was on right. But thank you so much for letting me know.”
