Ben AffleckandMatt Damon’sfriendship beganwhen they bonded as kids in Boston. They became household names many years later thanks to their Oscar-winning film,Good Will Hunting.
Though Matt and Ben famously wrote and starred in the 1997 movie, it is sometimes forgotten that Ben’s younger brother, Casey Affleck, was also involved in the Boston-based film.
Matt, Ben, and Casey go back a long way as a trio, and while Matt and Ben are known as BFFs, it’s fair to say that Casey and Matt are pretty close, too.
In 2023, the duo both had roles inOppenheimer, but much before that, they appeared together in Steven Soderbergh’sOcean’strilogy of films released in 2001, 2004, and 2007. Matt also devised the idea for and produced the 2016 dramaManchester by the Sea, which earned Casey an Oscar for Best Actor.
Now, Casey and Matt have come together once again for their new heist movie,The Instigators, which — you guessed it — was also produced by Ben and set and filmed in Boston.
Speaking on the red carpet at the film’s New York premiere on Wednesday, Matt shared some insight into his working relationship with the Affleck brothers, tellingPeople: “They’re consistently great.”
Despite all this, Matt said he, Casey, and Ben sometimes get into “creative arguments.” Although, he was quick to emphasize that it’s never anything personal.
The Instigatorswill be released in theaters on Aug. 2 and will be available to stream on Apple TV+ from Aug. 9.
