In case you missed it, Katy was this year’s recipient of the MTVMichael JacksonVideo Vanguard Award, and as is customary, the winner thrilled fans with a jam-packed performance of her biggest hits.
Ahead of Katy’s10-minutemedley — which included songs like “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” and “I Kissed a Girl” — Orlando was welcomed to the stage to give aglowing introduction, in which he praised his fiancée’s “remarkable” talent.
“You fell in love with her as Katy Perry. I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson,” he began, referring to her by her birth name.
ThePirates of the Caribbeanstar went on to say that Katy’s music has “brought a sense of joy and laughter” to fans and inspired “generations of people from all over the world.”
Once her high-energy, gravity-defying performance was over, Orlando presented Katy with her trophy. And in heracceptance speech, she returned the favor with a cute shoutout to him and their 4-year-old daughter.
“Thank you to Orlando for keeping me grounded, celebrated, and doing the dishes,” she said, calling back to herrecent confessionabout their home life on theCall Her Daddypodcast. “And lastly, for my Daisy, the only flowers I’ll ever need.”
