Demi Lovatois set to make her directorial debut with an upcoming Hulu documentary calledChild Star.
The 31-year-old singer and actor, who landed her first on-screen role when she was around 10 years old onBarney & Friends, knows a thing or two about growing up in the public eye.
She’s also been pretty vocal about the highlights andchallenges she’s facedafter entering the entertainment business at such a young age, which is why she wanted to explore that shared experience with fellow child stars for this new project.
“I’m so proud to make my directorial debut with this documentary that sheds light on the complexities of child stardom, a topic that is very close to my heart,” Demi toldthe Hollywood Reporter.
Demi has tapped her fellowCamp Rockcostar Alyson Stoner for the documentary — who some of you might also recognize from her early start as a backup dancer for artists like Missy Elliott and Eminem.
Drew Barrymore, who had her breakout role inE.T.when she was 7, will also be making an appearance.
Raven-Symoné, who landed her first leading role at the age of 3 as little Olivia Kendall onThe Cosby Show, is continuing her longstanding reign on Disney Channel and lending her insights on life in the limelight.
SNLvet Kenan Thompson, who a lot of you might also recognize from his early days on Nickelodeon’sAll Thatwhen he was just 16, will also share his thoughts on child stardom. Kenan previouslylent his commentaryon theQuiet on Setdocumentary which shined a light on the harsh working conditions and alleged abuse that took place behind the scenes with child actors.
Fans can also expect to see Christina Ricci, who made her film debut when she was 9 inMermaidsalongside Cher and Winona Ryder, in the project.
And last but certainly not least, JoJo Siwa, who grew her claim-to-fame as an aspiring dancer onDance Moms, is expected to open up about her time in Hollywood.
