Music iconJanet Jacksonis known for her timeless hits, incredible choreography, and diverse acting roles. But did you also know she’s a seasoned exotic pet owner?
That’s right! During arecent episodeof British Vogue’sLife in Looksseries, Janet took a trip down memory lane to break down some of her most popular fashion moments throughout her career.
One of those stylish moments included her 1983 American Music Awards red carpet moment when she wore a beautiful red sweetheart gown, with ruffled tiers.
The taffeta dress, which she also wore to her graduation, might have captured everyone’s attention that night, but it was her accessories that held an extra special meaning.
TheWhy Did I Get Married?star revealed that one of her earrings had a real key on it. That key was used to open the cages of her family’s pets, but these weren’t your typical cats and dogs — although she did have dogs.
“I used to take care of all the animals,” Janet told British Vogue. “And we had animals! We had giraffe, Mouflon sheep, we had pheasants, toucans, cockatiels.”
“I used to clean all the cages,” she added. “All of that. And that’s why I kept the key there, because I never kept a keychain or anything, so I didn’t want to lose it.”
Janet found a way to be responsible and fashionable by adding the key to her hoop earrings. An innovator in so many ways!
