Yikes , James .
James McAvoy’s cautionary tale of why you should never meet your celebrity crush is absolutely awkward and downright funny.#
On a recentWatch What Happens Liveepisode, theSpeak No Evilstar revealed that he had a major crush on everybody’s ’90s TV crush with sun-kissed hair and honey highlights.#
James explained the first time he actually met his celebrity crush was at a Hollywood party years ago, and how it resulted in an epic fail.#
“I did meet her, and it wasn’t great,” James told hostAndy Cohen.#
“I was at a party when I was really young, I was like 22 in LA, and I metLucy Liu. And Lucy Liu was really, really nice to me and she was like, ‘Come meet my friends.'”#
We need to address a few things here.Ally McBeal’s Lucy from the ’90s is definitely another TV celebrity crush. Second, if James were 22 at this party, Jennifer would be around 33 years old.#
The year would be around 2001, so this is what Jennifer would look like:#
Ok, back to the story: Lucy led James to a circle of her friends, including his crush, Jennifer, and that’s when he dropped the ball.#
“I got parked right beside Jennifer Aniston,” James remembered. “And just as [Lucy] was like, ‘Hey, guys, meet my new friend James,’ instead of saying that, she got pulled aside by a guy she went to high school with. She went away, and I was just left standing with all these people going, ‘Hey, what’s up? I’m new in town.'”#
While that interaction may seem adorable now, we all know how awkward it feels to be standing in a random group of people you just met at a party, overanalyzing if you’re being a complete dork.#
Unfortunately, James made the situation even more awkward when he turned to his — and pretty much everyone’s — celebrity crush and blurted out, “So you’re Jennifer Aniston, and you’re inFriends.”#
Poor James definitely didn’t knock that one out of the park. “It was rough,” he admitted. “But she was lovely.”#
In all fairness, if I ever met my crush at a party with a group of random people, I would turn to him and say, “So you’reJames McAvoy, and you’re Mr. Tumnus inChronicles of Narnia.”#
