Channing Tatumhas done many things in his movie career, but it’s probably fair to say that nothing has had quite as much of a cultural impact asMagic Mike.
The firstMagic Mikefilm was released in 2012 and starred Channing as Mike Lane, a stripper trying to make ends meet in Florida.
The movie — which was partly based on Channing’s own experience as a stripper in Tampa at 18 years old — was a huge success, grossing over$167 million worldwideoff of a $7 million budget. As a result, two sequels followed:Magic Mike XXLin 2015 andMagic Mike’s Last Dancein 2023.
But despiteMagic Mike’s mega success, Channing recently admitted that he dreads the day his 11-year-old daughter, Everly, is introduced to that era of his career.
Appearing onLate Night with Seth Meyerson Thursday, the 44-year-old opened up about his and Everly’s trip to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Los Angeleslast August, admitting that he “was dancing like [he’d] never danced before.”
In light of Channing’s famed history as a dancer, the host didn’t take long to poke fun at his comment. “That’s a lot coming from you,” Seth responded.
At this point, Seth warned that it’s only a matter of time before Everly learns aboutMagic Mike. “It’s gonna happen, and it’s not gonna happen because you show her,” he said, prompting Channing to say, “It’s gonna be horrifying” when that day eventually comes.
Of course,Magic Mikeisn’t the only dance film in Channing’s filmography — he and Everly’s momfamously metwhile shootingStep Up. However, Jenna revealed last year that their daughter was “completely uninterested” when she watched the 2006 hit movie for the first time.
