" I conceive it ’s a Spielberg note , was n’t it ? "

🚨   There are obviously spoilers ahead forTwisters ! 🚨

We’ve got another summer blockbuster on our hands.Twistersfinally hit theaters this past weekend, and I think it’s safe to say everyone is obsessed.

Twistersis the sequel to the 1996 movieTwister. This new movie follows Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones), a former storm chaser from Oklahoma who returns home to help her friend chase a series of catastrophic storms across the state in hopes of successfully finding a way to reduce their intensity.

While Kate is working with her friend, she meets Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), the leader of a “rival” storm-chasing group who just have fun and love to share their excitement for tornado wrangling with the world.

Similar toTwister, which notably featured a love story between Jo (Helen Hunt) and Bill (Bill Paxton) alongside all of the wild tornado chaos, the sequel does the exact same thing.

Unsurprisingly, Glen and Daisy have incredible chemistry as Kate and Tyler inTwisters, and everyone has loved them both on-screen and off-screen during the press tour.

Like, there is a scene inTwisterswhen Tyler simply smiles at Kate while she’s taking a photo of a tornado, and it might be one of the most subtle romantic moments on film for me.

After Kate and Tyler survive another catastrophic tornado alongside their friends, and Kate successfully uses her solution to weaken the tornado, the movie culminates in an airport scene, which just screamsrom-com.

At the end of the film, Tyler decides to run after Kate, who is returning to NYC and getting ready to report her findings and successful experiment. They stand in the airport, Kate’s flight is delayed because of a storm, and they leave together.

While it’s a great ending for the movie, a lot of fans — myself included — couldn’t help but feel that there was something missing: A KISS.

Shortly afterTwisterspremiered, abehind-the-scenes videoshowing Daisy and Glen filming the airport scene surfaced online, which showed that they actually filmed a kiss between Kate and Tyler, but it was cut from the final film.

“I think it’s a Spielberg note, wasn’t it?” Daisy said in a jointinterview with Colliderwhen she and Glen were asked about the final kiss not making it into the movie.

She continued, saying, “I think it stops the film feeling too clichéd, actually. I think there’s something really wonderful about it feeling like there’s a continuation. This isn’t the end of their story. They’re united by their shared passion for something.”

Meanwhile, Glen added that he feels this ending allowsTwistersto emphasize that the focus is on Kate and her love of storm-chasing. He said, “I also think that this movie is not about them finding love. It’s returning Kate to the thing that she loves, which is storm-chasing. So that’s what you have at the end of the movie.”

Inan interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Lee Isaac Chung also shared similar sentiments, saying that he actually prefers the no-kiss ending, too.

He said, “I think it’s a better ending. And I think that people who want a kiss within it, they can probably assume that these guys will kiss someday. And maybe we can give them privacy for that. In a way, this ending is a means to make sure that we really wrap things up with it in a celebratory, good way.”

Of course, the no-kiss ending, while amazing, didn’t stop fans from taking to X, formerly Twitter, to share how much they wished they actually got the kiss:
