Nev Schulman is sharing his road to recovery.
TheCatfishhost and producersharedin a lengthy Instagram post that last week, while riding his bike to pick his son up from school, he was hit by a truck.
“I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery,” he wrote.
“And I’m really starting to understand the meaning of gratitude. For the big and little things before the accident, and now everything moving forward.”
So, here’s what happened on Aug. 5, according to Nev. “Monday was a day where I learned what ‘before the accident’ really means. And Monday gave weight to just how lucky I was to have Sunday. It’s true what they say - life can change in an instant.”
Just the day before, Nev shared that his family had spent time together on a fishing trip and while it was “magical” and a “day full of love and wonder,” the following Monday was very different.
“I never made it to pick up my son from school on the bike,” he continued. “In fact in some ways, I’m glad I didn’t. I was alone on impact. Me and the truck.”
“I broke my neck. C5 and C6 to be exact. Stable fractures,” Nev shared. “I’m not paralyzed. My hands were a question mark there for a minute but the human body is incredible and so are HUMANS.”
He shared a series of graphic photos of the accident, including X-ray photographs of the fractures and the aftermath of the surgery.

Apparently, this is the helmet that he had worn during the accident.
Nev also included a video of him slowly standing from his hospital bed, walking down the hospital hallway, and being greeted by his children. The visual prompted an outpour of support from his friends and fans.
