You might imagine that winning an Olympic medal sets an athlete up for life, sort of like winning the Hunger Games. However, that’s not the case.
Here are 14 facts about how much money Paris 2024 Olympic medalists win (and what other prizes they receive):
1.Winning a gold, silver, or bronze medal doesn’t guarantee any additional rewards. The International Olympic Committeedoesn’t awardmonetary prizes, so it’s up to the athlete’s home country.
2.In place of prize money, the IOCdistributes90 percent of its income through national Olympic committees and international federations.
