Chappell Roan recently spoke out against toxic " superfan " behavior tell , " I do n’t deal that abuse and harassment , stalking , whatever , is a normal thing to do to people who are famous , or a little famous . I do n’t give care that this crazy type of behavior get along with the job . … That does n’t make it hunky-dory , that does n’t make it normal . "

Earlier last week,Chappell Roanposted twoTikToksasking fans if they’d treat a “random woman on the street” like they treat her. “If you saw a random woman on the street, would you yell at her out a car window? Would you harass her in public?” shesaid. “Would you stalk her family? Would you follow her around? Would you try to dissect her life and bully her online? This is a lady you don’t know, and she doesn’t know you at all. I’m a random bitch. You’re a random bitch.”

Immediately after, people were divided about her argument. Some argue that even as a celebrity, she still has a right toprivacy. While others argued that"she’s not even that famous"and she should"accept reality or step down."

Chappell posted anotherstatementon Instagram Aug. 23, calling out the toxic fan behavior even further. “I chose this career path because I love music and art and honoring my inner child, I do not accept harassment of any kind because I chose this path, nor do I deserve it,” she wrote.

Several celebrities likeFinneas O’Connell,Noah Kahan,Shawn Mendes, and Lizzy McAlpine have liked and reposted the statement showing support for Chappell.

And Hayley Williams became the latest celebrity to voice her support for Chappell. In a now-expired Instagram story, she reposted the statement and added some encouraging words of her own.

“This happens to every woman I know from this business, myself included. Social media has made this worse,” she wrote. “I’m really thankful Chappell is willing to address it in a real way, in real time. It’s brave and unfortunately necessary.”
