Florence Pugh Addressed A “Weird” Rumor About Her Transformation For “We Live In Time”

At the time, there was a lot of speculation about the drastic change to her look, and it later became clear that the buzzcut was for her upcoming movie,We Live in Time.

The romantic drama stars Florence and Andrew Garfield as a couple called Almut and Tobias, who accidentally cross paths in London when Almut hits Tobias with her car.

The film sees their romance play out as they fall for one another and build a family. But, as thetrailerindicates, the love story takes an emotional turn when Almut receives a cancer diagnosis.

This week, aVanity Fairarticle about the movie revealed that the director, John Crowley, gave Florence the option to wear wigs instead of shaving all her hair off for the role. However, theLittle Womenstar said she was adamant about undergoing a real-life transformation to do justice to the character.

A few months after debuting her new look on the red carpet in 2023, Florence told theRadio Times, per People, that she “purposefully chose” to shave her head because she “wanted vanity out of the picture.”

But now, speaking to Vanity Fair, Florence looked back on her transformation and the real motivation behind it, calling out “weird” rumors that she did it to “take back” her identity.
