Instead of a squad of new offenders , it ’s just ordinary common people from various screen background and classes adjudicate to live their honorable life . That is , until , they find themselves uncovering superpowers .

Each individual has unique super abilities, from teleportation to super speed, that they uncover at unexpected moments. But what they later discover is that they are being tracked and hunted by a secret organization that wants to control them.

But underneath the surface of being asci-fi showabout superheroes, Rapman addresses social issues that reflect the struggles he and others faced growing up in South London, partially inspired byGeorge Floyd’s deathduring the pandemic.

" I just want to do something that empowered disastrous people at the time , because we were just down in the trash dump , man . We were already in lockdown , and theGeorge Floydthing , it just hit differently than all the others , " Rapman told Buzzfeed’sSeasoned Sessions . " So , I embark on off wanting something that empowered us . With sickle cellular phone … I never empathise something that only hurt blackened people . So I enounce , ' how can I make this something that can switch it around ? ' Like , ' if I have to brook as a parent with this illness , I ’m quick to take it if my kid becomes extraordinary . ' "

With a stellar cast that brings authenticity and grit to its characters,Supacellquickly became another Netflix hit. So much so that fans anticipate that Netflix will renew it for another season.
