While appearing onLate Night , the role player spread up about the not - so - gravid auditory sense .

Dylan O’Brienis a certified TV and film star, but that doesn’t mean he’s nailed every audition he’s gone out for.

In fact, the star ofTeen Wolf,Maze Runner,Not Okay,Taylor Swift’sAll Too Wellshort film, and much more recently revealed a particularly challenging audition for a high-profile movie.

On Thursday, Dylan appeared onLate Nightto chat about his new film about the origin ofSaturday Night Live, titledSaturday Night. But he and hostSeth Meyers, anSNLalum, took a moment to discuss Dylan’s disastrous audition for…Frozen 2.

Dylan didn’t appear in theFrozensequel, which came out in 2019. He also didn’t reveal which character he auditioned for.

While it seems the actor tried his hardest for a shot at being in the film, he did admit to Seth that he did not go into the audition with high hopes. “I knew that I probably wasn’t going to get it,” he said, considering the movie is, well, a musical.

“They’re looking for sort of multitalented, multi-hyphenate people who can act and sing,” he said. Of those two boxes, Dylan said, “I didn’t check, to be honest, probably either.”

“I sang across a desk to the casting associate. I know I can’t sing,” he said, telling Seth he “absolutely” knew he couldn’t sing going into the audition. “But I just wanted to do it because sometimes it’s just good…I don’t always feel like a real actor because I’m not.”

Considering Dylan admitted he knew he couldn’t sing, Seth asked when he thought the casting director realized this, too, and Dylan had quite the story to share. “This poor woman. I remember this specific detail: She asked me painfully if I could get to the chorus because she needed to see if I had a certain range,” he said, noting he was “swimming” in the song’s first verse before trying his best to continue singing.

There was a specific moment when Dylan officially knew the role wasn’t going his way. “She said two ‘OKs.’ I’ll never forget it, and then she said, ‘Thank you for coming in. I think we’d probably need a bit of a stronger singer.'”

All in all, Dylan doesn’t look back at the audition badly. “I honestly only remember it fondly,” he said before telling Seth jokingly, “I’m glad that that’s what they chose for you to ask me about.”
