The pair were firstspottedtogether back in 2017, but have generally kept things private over the years. They were confirmed to be engaged earlier this year, though a source toldPeoplethat the couple “got engaged years ago but were in no rush to get married.”
In 2021, Dakotasaidof their life together, “We’ve been together for quite a while, and we go out sometimes, but we both work so much that it’s nice to be at home and be cozy and private.”
Speculation that the two have split has emerged before, but reached fever pitch this morning when theDaily Mailpublished a story where a source said the two had called off their engagement, adding, “Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work. They’ll always have love for each other but they’ve both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term.”
The reports quickly went viral, with some folks apparently finding out that the two are in a relationship this way:

A representative for Dakota subsequently denied the news and toldPeople, “They are happily together.”
