The latest episode ofConan O’Brien Needs a Friendsaw a sweet reunion between Conan andLisa Kudrow.
According toPeople, Conan and Lisa dated between 1988 and 1993, shortly before they both became famous in the TV world. In 1993, Conan took over the hosting spot onLate Night, and the following year, Lisa debuted as Phoebe Buffay on a new NBC comedy calledFriends.
In the latest episode of Conan’s podcast, the exes and close pals reflected on the early days ofFriends, which began shooting in May 1994. Notably, Conan remembered that Lisa called him to share praise for one of her new costars at the time.
Of course, Lisa referred tothe late Matthew Perry, who starred alongside her on the show as Chandler Bing. Looking back, Lisa was blown away by Matthew’s comedic skills, which struck a nerve with Conan.
“Yes. And you were saying he’s so funny, and there was part of me that was jealous,” he admitted. “I was like,Okay… I make you laugh pretty hard, and you were like, ‘No, you don’t understand. This guy’s really [funny].’”
Despite having previously found it “embarrassing” to watch herself act, Lisa recently talked about her decision to start rewatching old episodes ofFriendsto honor Matthewafter his sudden death in October 2023.
While speaking to Conan, Lisa shared more about her change of heart, admitting that there have been days since Matthew’s death when she’s spent “all day long watching the show.”
