Well,Variety(viathe Ankler) is reporting that the secret project Britney and Platt are working on is a biopic based on her best-selling memoir,The Woman in Me.
According to the Ankler, the deal was worth eight figures, and it includes the rights to her iconic music. Which, you can’t make a Britney biopic without the music!
Britney’s memoir, which was released in October of 2023 and went on to be aNew YorkTimes No. 1 best-seller, has sold over 2.5 million copies in the US alone and was full ofrevelations, including how she saidJustin Timberlakeconvinced her to have an abortion and how she found out about the #FreeBritney movement while being secretly placed in a rehab center against her will.
While the film is still in the early development stages, we do know that Universal won a competitive bidding war for the rights to the film and thatWickedandCrazy Rich Asiansdirector Jon M. Chu is attached to direct and also help develop it.
