" First off , we clap for THE Angela Bassett . "
Angela Bassettis the latest celebrity to unexpectedly be drawn into the “just give me my money” trend, and like all of her performances, it’s truly entertaining!
Although it’s unclear who first started theTikTok challenge, many creditKai Cenat, a 22-year-oldTwitch streamerwith more than 12 million followers, for popularizing it.
In the challenge, a group of people will go around saying a variation of “just give me my money” and then immediately cheer and clap. The celebratory applause should happen after each participant goes, except one, thus causing confusion and, ultimately, more laughter.
Parents and young children have been the easy targets for this trend, which is probably why Angela’s kids decided to play this prank on her. On Monday, Angela’s daughter Bronwyn Vance shared her own version on TikTok featuring the Academy Award winner and Bronwyn’s twin brother Slater Vance.
Watching it, knowing what was to come, made me so anxious. On the one hand, it’s THEAngela Bassett, so I never want to see her in a situation where she’s embarrassed, but on the other hand, it’s THE Angela Bassett, and I want to see her children play an innocent joke on her.
Honestly, the escalation of it all was well worth it. TheBlack Pantherstar seemed so excited to join in on the fun. She even jumped for joy and did a little dance after saying, “Just give me my money.”
Only to be met with stares and straight faces like this:
Confused by their reactions or lack thereof, Angela turned to both her kids to see what she did wrong.
But she was a good sport about it, because they all laughed about it in the end.
And now that she was a pro at the trend, Angela decided to play the same prank on her husband, actor Courtney B. Vance, with the help of her children, of course.
I couldn’t help but applaud Angela’s dedication to the trend because the stank face she gave Courtney after he said, “Give me my money,” had me cracking up.
Viewers playfully asked Bronwyn to apologize to their mom…
…while others acknowledged how hilarious her parents' responses were:
But to truly understand, you really just have to watch the TikToks for yourself!
