What are we thinking , America ?

This weekend, former president Donald Trump was rushed off stage at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after shots rang out, and Trumpsaida bullet hit his right ear.

According toCNN, three attendees were shot, and one was killed. Meanwhile, as the assassination attempt is being investigated, PresidentJoe Bidenaddressed the nation from the Oval Office, saying:

“ We ’re neighbors or friends , coworkers , citizens . Most importantly , we are fellow Americans , we must stand together … We ca n’t allow this violence to be normalized , ” Biden said . " Our government must never be a actual battlefield . We resolve our remainder at the ballot box — not with hummer . ”

Reactions to the events have been mixed online, with conspiracy theories, finger-pointing, and calls for peace intermixing. So I’m curious how Americans living through these events think the shooting will affect November’s election.

Maybe you saw the photos of Trump raising his fist with a bloodied ear circulating online and believed the image was powerful enough to sway voters toward his side.

Or maybe you think this weekend was a perfect example of how heated our country has gotten, and you believe the attempt might convince Americans to vote Blue to avoid electing a divisive figure.

Or maybe you think that there is so much other stuff going on — a housing crisis, increased cost of living, inflation, rising temps, etc. — and this weekend will just be a blip on the calendar that’ll have no effect on how people have already decided they’ll be voting.
