On Wednesday, the three-time Olympian competed in theWomen’s 1500m Freestyle Final.
And she won!
She didn’tjustwin, though.
She set anew Olympic recordwith a time of 15:30.02.
Theprevious record was her own: 15:37.34 at Tokyo 2021.
Perhaps nothing exemplifies Ledecky’s dominance in the 1500m yesterday but just how much sooner she finished than her competitors.
Silver medalist Anastasiia Kirpichnikova of Team France finished at 15:40.35, meaning Ledecky won by 10.33 seconds.
It wasn’t the first time at this year’s Olympics that Katie came out on top by a wide margin.
The day before, in a heat for the 1500m Final, Ledecky beat out second-place finisher Team China’s Li Bingjieby nearly 18 seconds.

Ledecky celebrated her win in the 1500m Free Final onTwitter, saying, “1500 Thanks to everyone who has played a part in this one and thanks to all for the support and cheers #Paris2024.”
By the way, Katie’s Olympics aren’t over. On Thursday, she’ll be one of the Team USA swimmers competing in the 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay Final. Then, she’ll compete in an 800m Freestyle heat on Friday.
